friends

Being a stroke survivor one needs alot of friends. There are so many ups and downs many down days being in a support group gives me a new sense of purpose. I can see how other people are coping with their disabilities . When fellow stroke survivors share their stories about their silly cats and dogs its particualy entertaining to me . I'm a guy soo i don't really like hearing about grand kids or other people in the family ,but the cats and dogs are great reading , maybe its just me

cigarettes and stroke

I used to smoke cigarettes . I loved smoking but a funny thing happened i would light a cig have a stroke 2 weeks later after getting out of the hospital I tried lighting another cigarette had a stroke . Yes I do think there was a connection, so its been 2 years since i had a stroke and a cig go figure lol . I still have the urge to smoke

Alcohol &stroke

Post stroke alcohol use is a scary place for all of us stroke survivors to go . The big question is will it create the onset of another stroke ? Will it affect me differently than before the stroke ? how much can i drink ? What can I drink without having ill affect ?Ii have found, at first I couldn't handle it at all . With practice i could drink a few molson exports without scaring me .

tired

I'm tired all the time  how many people are tired all the time naps are good :) if i take a nap i'm up until the wee hours of the morning it seems that is the time i'm most with it . Is that the way it is for most stroke survivors ?

I wonder how many people suffer from depression after they had a stroke? I know I do and the more time  I have to sit and dwell, the more i get depressed. I feel my life is not worth living.
